The First 20 years
It was November 1998, six weeks before the White Rock Marathon, when I first experienced the shooting pain in my buttocks. I had been experiencing chronic back
pain, back spasms and overall soreness and stiffness since high school so I was used to chronic pain. Throughout these 20 years I had been diagnosed with
curvature of the spine, slipped disc, pinched nerves, muscle imbalances, impingements and nerve degeneration. The cause was aways a body misaligned,
crooked spine, degenerating nerves, inflammation, too much running or some other physical deterioration taking place in my body. The treatments were chiropractic
adjustments, nerve stimulation, back brace, anti inflammatory pdts., special stretching exercises, custom made orthotics, massage, acupuncture, energy medicine,
relaxation techniques, acupressure and more. Bottom line I was like millions of other people experiencing chronic pain, no one really knew what was wrong with my
body and no one was prescribing treatments that were fixing the problem.

The "aha" moment
December 1999 I was browsing through Barnes & Noble, partaking in my usual self-improvement search.
I begin reading Healing Back Pain by Dr. John Sarno. This was an alternative diagnosis for back pain (TMS) that attributed the cause to psychological factors and not
a physical deterioration. I could resume activity, stop my treatments, become aware of my Type "A" personality traits and the pain would go away! The information
resonated with me immediately. Being a Clinical Hypnotherapist I accepted the mind body relationship, but I had never been introduced to inner stress/tension
being the cause of my chronically painful body. I began applying this new "think psychological" to my back pain and within weeks I was 75% pain free.

The struggle
Physically things were going okay except for the fact I still had the constant burning/shooting buttock and sciatica pain. I knew it was TMS, so I was applying "think
psychological" techniques, journaling and doing inner psychological work do find out what "emotion" was still stuck or repressed. The big question was, why would
my back pain and stiffness go away in a matter of weeks but my piriformis and sciatica pain remain? Was this a case of deeply repressed emotions as Sarno
states happens when the pain will not go away? Or, did I really have a mysterious physical injury that the trainers and docs could not figure out how to fix? This
dilemma would go on for the next 12 months.

The Solution
Through months of trial and error and tons of research and investigation I began to put together a personal program that was paying me big dividends.   Sarno's
think psychological was the base. Carolyn Myss taught me about psychological pain and the fact that sticking to "wounds" was not helpful and that the most efficient
and effective healing occurred in present time. She also reinforced that simply being aware without change or action doesn't change anything. Candace Pert gave
me the scientific evidence of the biochemistry taking place in this dynamic mind body disorder.
Yes the pain is real and yes scientist see the emotional energy in our
body systems.
Eckhart Tolle reinforced the power of being in the "now" and brought to light how effective it is to pay attention to your present moment thought and
behavior patterns. Especially the chronic "type a" patterns that were generating tension. Gary Zukov put it all together for me when he explained how being a people
pleaser, worrier, searcher, angry outburst-er, self-conscious, perfectionist, striver and a person who held stuff in were all behavior patterns that were repressing
emotions! Not only do we generate inner tension when we are in our "type a" patterns but this is also how we are repressing emotions in our day-to-day lives.

The Master Practice
An expert is a person who has made all the mistakes that can be made in a very narrow field. ---Niels Bohr, Danish physicist and Nobel Prize winner.
The Master Practice program comes from a very unique perspective. I experienced 20 years of chronic pain with numerous mis-diagnoses and partook in dozens of
treatments aimed to fix a broken body. When I discovered Sarno I was fortunate to receive the dramatic subconscious effect of breaking the pain cycle for much of my
pain body. I also benefited from not becoming totally pain free. This led me on the journey to learn more about this dynamic mind body syndrome and how to reverse
the pain syndrome and taught me how to live with this syndrome pain and symptom free. I have been living with TMS pain and symptom free for the past 9 years. For
the past six years I have been able to work with thousands of other TMS chronic pain sufferers. I have learned from their experiences why they are still stuck in the
pain cycle or strategy and more importantly the changes that are required for them to reverse the cycle and heal. I am enthused to share with you how to live with
TMS and do it pain and symptom free.
What makes the MP an efficient and effective program is the flexibility and completeness. The MP compliments and enhances
other mind body or psychological work you may be involved in. It includes: MP Book, MP Audio, optional Guided Imagery, 24/7 email support, personal consultations,
monthly MP updates via email and video.

Why The Master Practice Works for Dr Sarno's patients
Dr. Sarno's patients state that The Master Practice is the missing link to understanding how to permanently end the symptoms of this disorder. Dr. Sarno taught you
what TMS is and he told you to
think psychological. The Master Practice teaches you how to put  think psychological into a daily routine that insures you are not
feeding the pain strategy and instead render it useless. Many TMS patients are stuck searching for deeply repressed emotions. In the MP you learn how you are
generating inner tension and repressing emotions and how to release this emotional energy. Sarno told us that Type A personality traits are common in TMS
patients. The MP explains how to continue being who you are but do it without generating inner tension and manifesting pain. The only complaint that I ever hear
about Sarno's work is that there is not a healing plan to follow. The MP provides you the strategies and gives you the tools to use in your day to day life so that you
can successfully live with this syndrome pain and symptom free.

Why The Master Practice Works for Runners and People who are not familiar with tension induced pain
I lived with this chronic pain disorder for 20 years. I did not know that inner stress and tension could cause pain that Doctors would diagnose as running injuries. I
ended my chronically tight, sore and stiff body pain that was attributed to running 70 miles per week.
20 years of chronic low back pain gone. Back spasms
experienced 3-4x per year have never returned.
I eliminated 3 years of chronic piriformis & sciatica that was misdiagnosed as muscle imbalance and disc/nerve
degeneration. Physical treatments will never end this pain disorder. Pain moves and people get stuck in a chronic injury/pain cycle. I understand the athletic mindset
of
pain means physical injury. I will help you through the challenge of accepting the real cause of pain in these disorders. At the age of 49 I am running 70 miles per
week pain-free and still setting PR's.
